Mondays, Summer and Year-end/New Year holidays

* Open on Mondays that fall on national holidays, in which case the museum is closed on following day.

Admission fee

Free: Visitors can view the exhibits for free

* For security purposes, visitors are required to write their name, telephone number, and other information at the reception when entering the museum.

Reservations

When viewing the museum unescorted (up to 9 persons), no reservation is needed.
For groups of 10 or more or if you would like a guided tour, please make an application in advance.

* Inquiries are accepted by telephone from 9 AM to 6 PM on days when the museum is open.

* Please note that it may not be possible to answer the telephone when staff is assisting museum visitors.

Target age groups

The exhibits are intended to be easy to understand for upper elementary school-age children and older.
The museum is opened to everyone.

* Visitors aged nine years old and under must be accompanied by a parent.

Facilities and Services

Lockers

A limited number of lockers are available for small items.
Please inquire the staff regarding larger items that will not fit in the locker.

Wheelchairs and Strollers

Wheelchairs and strollers are available to lend.

* Availability may be limited.

* The interior of the museum is barrier free, but there are many slopes and steps in the structure.

* Wheelchair users are requested to be accompanied by an assitant.

Multiple Language Support

Some of the exhibits have audio guide devices (providing explanations in English and Chinese).

* Availability may be limited.

Nursing Room

The nursing room is located in the multi-purpose space on the sixth floor.

Important notice for visitors

  • Please refrain from visiting if you have cold-like symptoms such as fever or cough, or not feeling well.
  • Visitors who are under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted to enter the museum.
  • Smoking is prohibited on the company property, including inside and outside the building. Also, smoking on the street in front of the building (public place) is prohibited according to the ward ordinance.
  • Only for private use, photography and recording are permitted in some areas, such as the Hands-on corner. Please refrain from using monopods, tripods, and selfie sticks. In addition, please comply with the following rules.
    • ①Please be sure that other visitors and staffs are not in your photos and videos.
    • ②Do not use photos and videos for commercial purposes.
    • ③Do not post photos or videos of the following items on the Internet, magazines, and so on even if not for commercial purposes.
      • Photos and videos of exhibits that contain people
      • Photos and videos that include other visitors from whom permission has not been obtained.
    • ④You may be asked to refrain from taking photos or videos depending on the circumstance.
  • Please do not touch the exhibits and cases except the Hands-on corner and certain exhibits.
  • Foods are not permitted in the museum. Please refrain from bringing in foods, including snacks such as candies and gums.
    Only beverages in plastic bottles may be brought into the museum. Please sit on a sofa when you drink.
  • The structure contains many steps and slopes. Please wear shoes suitable for walking and watch your step. Running or jumping is very dangerous. If you have small children, please view together.
  • For security purposes, you will be asked to write your name, telephone number, and other information at the reception when entering the museum. At that time, you might be asked to present your personal identification when necessary. If you are unable to present identification, you may not be permitted to enter the museum.
    Viewing the museum for commercial tours and other commercial purposes is not permitted.
  • We may ask you to adjust the admission time depending on the congestion situation.
  • The staff guides in Japanese. Some of the exhibits have audio guide devices that provide information in English and Chinese.
  • When making reservations for groups or guided tours, if you arrive after the starting time, the tour may be shortened or not be available in some cases.
  • The museum shall not bear any liability for accidents, injuries, theft, loss, and so on attributed to visitors.
  • Please use the exhibits, equipment and facility carefully. If you intentionally or negligently damage the exhibits, equipment and facility, please be sure to report it to the staff. If repair or replacement is necessary, you may be required to cover the cost.
  • The staff may ask visitors to ensure safety, preserve exhibits and maintain the environment for viewing. Please follow the staff's instructions and view the exhibits so as not to cause any inconvenience to other visitors.

Information for Travel Companies

  • Reservations may be made by travel agents on behalf of visitors such as school trips.
    If a reservation is made through an agent, all visitors to the museum will be considered to have accepted the important notice, so please explain them adequately in advance.
